What is a WhatsApp coexistence connector?
A service that joins a number already on the WhatsApp Business app to the WhatsApp Business Platform (Cloud API). The owner keeps the phone and the app; the software gets a webhook and a send API on the same number. NumberBridge is such a connector, registered with Meta as a technology provider.
Do I lose the number from my phone?
No. That is the point of coexistence. The number stays on the WhatsApp Business app; chats, calls and groups keep working. API replies appear in the same threads.
How long does connecting take?
About two minutes. You press Connect, Meta's own signup window opens, you sign in to Facebook, pick the number and scan a code from the WhatsApp Business app.
What does Meta charge?
Meta bills business-initiated template messages per message by category (marketing, utility, authentication) to your own WhatsApp Business Account. Replies inside the 24-hour service window are free. NumberBridge adds no per-message fee.
Can an AI agent answer on the number?
Yes. Messages reach your webhook as JSON; your agent replies through the send API. The owner sees the AI's replies in the app and can take over any chat by typing.
What about group chats?
Groups are not shared with the API under Meta's coexistence rules. They stay on the phone only.
Do you store my messages?
Messages are stored for 30 days so the inbox and delivery log work, then deleted. You can disconnect a number or delete the account at any time, which removes tokens and messages at once.
